This Is News To Whom
Claudia Parsons over there at Reuters was actually paid to write the following item. I take it there is something here that most people didn’t know…?
“U.S. media coverage of last year’s election was three times more likely to be negative toward President Bush than Democratic challenger John Kerry, according to a study released Monday.”
Whew! I’m glad that Dan Rather thing was an aberration.
“The annual report by a press watchdog that is affiliated with Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism said that 36 percent of stories about Bush were negative compared to 12 percent about Kerry, a Massachusetts senator.”
Funny, the liberals always complained that the media was too slanted to the right. Could any of us imagine what news would be like if the radio was all Air America-all the time, or television “news” was Democracy Now! and “Free Speech TV”? Must be a whole lot of right-wing nut cases over there at CU.
In reference to war coverage, the study stated “The three network nightly newscasts and public broadcaster PBS tended to be more negative than positive, while Fox News was twice as likely to be positive as negative.”
If you’re up to it, take a few minutes and listen to a liberal talk show. They don’t seem to be the happiest or positive of people, at least since Democrats lost the House and Senate in 1994. It must be really frustrating when the majority of people think your ideas (or lack thereof) are out to lunch.
Will She Or Won’t She
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated in no uncertain terms that, “I will not run for president of the United States.” How many public officials one day said they’d never run?
As I’ve previously written, if (when) the Democrats nominate pretty-in-pink Hillary, we’d better have someone ready to take the gloves off and hit her hard. If it’s Giuliani, Romney (joke), McCain, or even Arnold, Hillary will be given the benefit as the poor picked-on woman.
So let me be clear on this: the ONLY person who can defeat Hillary for the presidency would be Condoleezza. Dr. Rice would split the black vote, draw all the ABH (anyone but Hill) people, and liberals would show their true colors of “tolerance” when they hurl every racial epithet written, including those they’ll make up.
And how could liberals explain history when a Republican nominated two black Secretaries of State back-to-back, a National Security Adviser, and the first black president?
We’ll leave that explanation to good ‘ol boy, Senator Byrd.
Is 24 Too Much?
This was just too juicy to pass on.
Last year, I guest appeared on a Los Angeles talk show where the topic was racial profiling after 9/11. One of the other guests was a female member of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Now seeing how men of Middle Eastern descent blew up the U.S. embassy in Kenya, the USS Cole, a packed commuter train in Madrid, a club in Bali, not to mention numerous suicide bombings on buses and malls in Israel, as well as our former World Trade Center towers, one could only conclude that maybe some of these Middle Eastern men deserve even the slightest extra scrutiny.
When I said that, this CAIR woman went off, calling me a racist and stated that I was probably against civil rights for blacks. The show host told the CAIR woman… I was black.
Ah, the sound of a paid pundit know-it-all stuttering.
I’ve been quite clear on this. We’ve had a Million Man March and a Million Mom March. After all that’s happened in the name of benevolent Islam, one would think it appropriate to see a Million Muslim March denouncing terrorism. Instead our televisions are inundated with talking heads telling us the Koran doesn’t call for the elimination of us infidels, and those terrorists who behead civilians aren’t really so bad. It’s always us that are the racists and have it all wrong.
As much bad press as Christians get nowadays, I haven’t heard of that clown Benny Hinn issuing a fatwa against Jerry Falwell. Christians tell you to pray for your enemies (if they’re not gay), while some Muslims would throw your beheaded body under the bus and blow it up.
So now we have the Fox drama “24” in which an American Muslim family is, in actuality, a sleeper terror cell that has thus far taken control of a nuclear plant and caused it to melt down. CAIR met with Fox officials to complain that the depiction of Muslims is a disservice and inflammatory. They even got the network to create “tolerance” PSA’s.
If that’s not the pot calling the kettle black….
Now seeing how men of Middle Eastern descent blew up the U.S. embassy in Kenya, the USS Cole, a packed commuter train in Madrid, a club in Bali, not to mention numerous suicide bombings on buses and malls in Israel, as well as our former World Trade Center towers, what is so slanderous about the depiction?
Congress To Take The Baseball Gloves Off
Over the weekend, news was made when former slugger Mark McGwire was outted and it was revealed that he used steroids in the eighties and nineties… a lot.
Anyone who has seen video of Mark when he was with Oakland and years later with St. Louis can see the graphic difference in his physique. I mean, really, don’t people usually get smaller with age? McGwire didn’t have that picturesque swing; he muscled line-drives over the fence. He demolished Roger Maris’ single season home run record and might have caught at least Babe Ruth if he hadn’t retired.
Congress, in their ongoing quest to help “the children”, has issued invitations to some major league players to testify as to their knowledge of steroid use. Some are wondering why the baseball brass is against it. Like they are really going to police their own. Some are also wondering why the man who has the best chance of breaking all-time home run record holder Hank Aaron’s record isn’t going to testify.
San Francisco’s Barry Bonds went off on the media a couple of weeks ago and basically played the race card in respect to the steroid allegations. He previously admitted to taking a substance he was given, but not knowing what it was. The next time someone hands you something and says “Take this”, I’m sure you’ll blindly comply.
The reason Bonds isn’t going to testify is because he may have perjured himself in a criminal steroid investigation and would only testify to Congress if they would grant him immunity from future prosecution. I’m sure Bonds would love a subpoena, but even Congress isn’t that dumb.
I’ve issued personal record book asterisks to McGwire, Bonds, Sammy Sosa, as well as those who are outting everyone and their own brother. The real losers in this whole cheat fest are not the damn children, but those real ballplayers who played the game clean.
Stories like this one really set me off. I’ll try to be easy on her because she’s a girl.
“BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A woman who told police she was raped and beaten in a restroom at Assembly Hall but later said she made up the story has been charged with false informing, authorities said. Indiana University student Mary E. Bray, 19, reported the assault to staff members at Bloomington Hospital, where she was taken after IU police cited her for illegal possession of alcohol during an IU-Purdue basketball game on Feb. 22.”
– Associated Press, March 9, 2005
Unfortunately, I’ll bet Ms. Bray will be let off lightly.
When will these winners of the Susan Smith Award ever have the book thrown at them? Why is it media hos like Wendy Murphy always rush to denounce any male but are silent when her sisters diminish the value of her victim-advocate activism? And why the knee-jerk reaction of covering personal embarrassment and/or wrong-doing by shouting “rape?” Is that the result of months of women’s studies classes?
“She told police that after she entered a restroom, a man approached her from behind, struck her several times and raped her. IU police said then that an IU police cadet noticed the woman was vomiting on herself and appeared to be very intoxicated when she left the restroom. She was taken to the first-aid room in Assembly Hall, and then to the hospital because of her drunken state.”
Drink while underage, vomit on yourself, and make up a crime that may send someone to prison for years. Yeah, that’ll work!
Pardon my skepticism every time I hear a rape allegation. As someone who nearly went to jail because of a false rape accusation years ago, I hope the little bitch rots in hell.
Does it sound like I hold a grudge?
